    1. [LEI] Family tree maker 2012 on Netbook
    2. Hello & Happy New Year to all on the list, I recently bought FTM 2012. It is the first genealogy software that I have had, (so not an upgrade from an earlier version). I installed it onto my desktop, and the following day it had such a meltdown that it won't boot up - this is probably just co-incidence as computer was 9 yrs old and was running on XP with office 2003. I then installed it onto my netbook. I found that I had to adjust my screen resolution to get the bottom of the pages, but other than that it has been working well - until today. Its now very slow. I think that it may be due to the size of the file (1018 people and about 100 or so have at least some media attached). Some people also have complicated relationships (e.g. siblings from one family marrying siblings from another, first cousins marrying, and a woman whose second marriage was to her first husband's first wife's nephew) which may be using more memory than standard relationships. The other possibility is that the speed is due to it being on a netbook which has less memory than a desktop or laptop. Has anyone else experienced this slowness? Is the solution to divide the tree into branches? I have tried the help files but couldn't find instructions for this. Is there a maximum size/number of people per tree? I'm hoping someone can offer some advice/instructions to get back to the right speed. Thanks Sandra
