G'day from down under, Courtesy of Mick F., I've received a photo of the headstone. This John HOLMES is buried at Barkby church just out of Leicester (Leicestershire, England) and from the MI he died as above aged 15 so that would make his d of b ca. 1847. Some of my HOLMES ancestors moved from Lincolnshire to the adjacent village of Queniborough but as I understand it, not until close to +/-1900. The questions I have are who were John's parents (to help me determine if he's directly one of ours) and although this apparently is the only HOLMES headstone were any other HOLMES' buried in Barkby? If so - who/when? Does anyone on the list have the appropriate information available to check and if so, would they be kind enough to do so for this wild colonial boy? Peter Holmes Western Australia.
