Dear Margot and David I too have Marriott relations from Sutton Bonington, but I haven't managed to go back as far as you. I have a Caroline Marriott, born 29 March 1863 in Loughborough, and her parents were Samuel Marriott (b 30 September 1796) and Hannah Hathern or Castledine from Ireland. I wonder if Caroline stems from the same branch of the family. I visited the graveyards in Sutton Bonington and there were several Marriott graves I seem to remember. My MARRIOTT'S are from Sutton Bonnington. The earliest I have is Thomas MARRIOTT marrying Anne CLIFFORD, who died shortly after, and then Mary HULFORD. Thomas and Mary married at St Michael's Sutton Bonnington 29 May 1721. I have no information about where either Thomas MARRIOTT or Mary HULFORD were born. I estimate they would have been born ABT 1700. I would love to hear from anyone who may have come across this family. The MARRIOTT'S stayed on in Sutton Bonnington for many generations after that.
