    2. I have subscribed to the Ancestry. Com website for over a year and have only been able to research information from 1838. I note from a recent query that Carole has been able to research her ancestors from the 1600s. What am I missing. Carole Bell Colorado. 3. I have been a member of Ancestry.co.uk (the British version although it allows you to access .com) for several years now and find the cost is more than saved just getting the census etc print offs (which BDM & Genes Reunited etc all charge for). Though I must admit sometimes you have to go a roundabout way to get the information. For example - My maternal grandmother was Lettuce Lillian Mary Beadle - I knew she was 1888 born London way and then came to Warwickshire. Couldn't find her in 1891 census and but did (as Lily) in the 1901 census in Berkswell, Warwickshire where she was being fostered with her 2 brothers (which I didn't know about as they weren't around post WW2). So I searched for the brothers in the 1891 census and there she was transcribed as Hetty! I printed it off and with the magnifying glass I can see it was written as Letty - a family term of endearment wrongly transcribed. However I was really confused when Ancestry showed the sibling of my great grandfather Albert Ludlam, to be a man called Lorain - the family verbal records all said it was a sister Lorraine. So I went through all the census records and there he was, married late in life with a daughter. I had to ring my cousin and tell her - it seems as the job was a confectioner with own premises, they all thought she made sweets instead of being the owner of a general store! So those two alone would have cost me 8 copies. 3. Just a point. It's far easier to "blow up" the image on the screen, you can get to 200%, than printing and using a magnifying glass.
