    3. Hello all Two addresses appear on my great grandfather's death certificate; well three really as he died in hospital, but it is the ordinary addresses that interest me. William BIRD was living at 2 Swain Street Leicester (column 5 under 'occupation' this is the address given). The address given by his widow in column 7 as her residence is 29 Callis Hill. I cannot find a Callis Hill in the Historical Directories but I can find a Calais Hill. I am interested to find out what kind of houses were in these two streets. Were they ordinary houses for the working man or a bit further up the scale? Many thanks Janet Northampton UK

    3. Hi Janet Calais Hill was near Granby St but has disappeared now. There are some houses in another street nearby (I think its York Street) and they are simple terraced houses. I wonder if 2 Swain Street was the Workhouse which later became some kind of nursing home called Hillcrest. What year did he die.
