Hi List Sorry if you receive this twice - I think I sent it to the wrong address the first time. I hope someone can give me some advice. I have a William GULSTON who appears as Abbot and Rector of Wymondham, Leics in 1538. He was presented to the Rectory in 1538 by the Prior and Convent of Tutbury (Staffs). Apparently this GULSTON family is the first recorded in Wymondham and I'm trying to find where the family was from prior to this generation. I read in an article that, if I can find the date of his ordination and by which Bishop he was ordained, the Bishop's records often show where he was from and the names of his parents. However, the Church of England Clergy Database doesn't have him listed so I don't have his ordination date or any more clerical details. Can anyone please give me an idea of where to go from here? Would all clergymen 'posted' to Leics churches have been ordained by a certain Bishop? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
