Hello List, I am trying to find an elusive Gr Grandfather of mine Robert Henry Maiden, according to the 1881 census it states that Robert was born in the above place in 1878 but on looking at the Freebmd I can not find his date, his parents names were Arthur ( William ) Maden and Elizabeth Maden and there were two older siblings William born 1874 York and Elizabeth born 1876 Ashby Z and a younger sibling Caroline born 1881 also in Ashby Z. Can anyone please help me find my Gr Grandfather ? if anyone is going to the local Registry Office of Oakham and wouldn't mind doing me a look up I will be so very grateful. I've found a Robert WILLIAM Maden, b1878 in Uppingham? I found him on Ancestry. If you can't find someone using the search the other option is to use the free images and search them yourself, quarter by quarter - start a couple of years before the date you have. It's incredibly tedious but I've found a few this way that have been mis-transcribed..
