    1. [LEI] Names on Kirby Muxloe War Memorial
    2. Mike Gould
    3. Hi All, The Kirby Muxloe Local History Group is researching the names on our War Memorial, prior to a photographic exhibition in April. There are some names under "WW2" for whom we only have their forename initials. We do not know who these people were, which is very sad, given that they gave their lives. Can anyone help us to identify the following: R Lewis B Morris H W Smith P A Smith Best wishes, Mike Gould Kirby Muxloe Local History Group

    3. Hi Mike I suspect they didn't give their lives during the conflict as they do not appear in the CWGC In my experience many on memorials were local men and women put forward for commemoration, as they fought in some capacity or gave service for the war effort, LDV, VAD nurses etc but not necessarily losing their lives Do you have access to the parish magazines or minutes as there may be mention there I found a full set of notes and letters regarding a parish down south and the invoices etc it made for interesting reading , I found them in the parish minutes Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 04/02/2014 19:56, Mike Gould wrote: > Hi All, > > The Kirby Muxloe Local History Group is researching the names on our War > Memorial, prior to a photographic exhibition in April. 3. Hi Nivard, > I suspect they didn't give their lives during the conflict as they do not appear in the CWGC I'm not sure that not appearing in the CWGC means that they didn't die during the war. What about all the people killed in the blitz ? Or lost in action ? Or lost at sea ? > Do you have access to the parish magazines or minutes ... Good idea. We do have some old parish magazines. I'll have to check whether they go back far enough. Thanks for the suggestions.
