    3. G'day from Western Australia, My Gt Grand Uncle James HOLMES owned and operated the above farm up to about 1950 before selling it to Arthur E Leigh Boulter ( the Ford Dealer in Leicester) and in about 1952/53 Dad came there to manage it. Yes the HOLMES' had 2 stints there. Can someone tell me the way to establish when the HOLMES' bought and sold the property. I imagine that it would be a titles searching web site or an email enquiry to the county council (rates notices). Peter Holmes Western Australia. 3. My Great Grandfather owned and ran a farm in Queniborough around 1880 unfortunately I do not know which farm it was Sam North was a grazier/butcher but left around 1900 and moved to Belgrave in Leicester where he moved into being a butcher. My grandfather, John North also was a butcher in Belgrave Margaret Riley On 09/02/2014 05:49, Peter HOLMES wrote: > G'day from Western Australia, > > > > My Gt Grand Uncle James HOLMES owned and operated the above farm up to about > 1950 before selling it to Arthur E Leigh Boulter ( the Ford Dealer in > Leicester) and in about 1952/53 Dad came there to manage it. > > > > Yes the HOLMES' had 2 stints there. > > > > Can someone tell me the way to establish when the HOLMES' bought and sold > the property. 3. Margaret, The names you mention are not familiar to me even though I lived there between 1953 to 1971. My guess is that James HOLMES owned the farm as from "about" 1940. Manor Farm is directly opposite the C of E church spire/entrance. Let's see what others come up with. Peter Holmes Western Australia. 3. Hi Peter I am afraid I found nothing very useful on your HOLMES and Manor farm, probably as most available directories are before that period I haven't heard of the Arthur E Leigh BOULTER as a Ford or other dealer but perhaps before my time and probably swallowed up by another dealer over time George CRAWFORD age 52 was a Farmer at Manor Farm Queniborough in 1911 He was still there in Kellys 1928 Directory What looks to be the above George died 24th May 1945 but address is Springfield Farm Queniborough then His son appears to have died in WW1 Probate Calendars 1937 CRAWFORD George (the younger) of Manor House Farm Queniborough Leicestershire died 11 June 1917 at Epehy France Administration Leicester 27th October to George Crawford farmer Effects £118 15s 6d UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 about George Max Crawford Name: George Max Crawford Residence: Leicester Death Date: 12 Jun 1917 Death Location: France & Flanders Enlistment Location: Leicester Rank: Private Regiment: Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line (incl.
