Hello, First time poster to this list, hello to everyone. Hope this message finds you all well. I'm researching the James family of Burton Lazars and surrounding area, and was wondering if anyone has a similar interest? My wife's great great grandfather was John James, born 26th April 1840 in Burton Lazars. By 1871 John had moved his family to Wolverton in Buckinghamshire, where I suspect he was employed at the huge Wolverton railway works. Certainly his son went into the works. All I know of John's profession is that he was a carpenter. John's father was Samuel James, born 1804, baptised Barrow on Soar. His mother was Mary Burnsnall. I've got a nice photograph of their very ornate gravestone. Samuel was a Grazier with 12 acres of land. I've also got his will. He pops up a few times in the papers of the time, for various petty offences like letting his animals stray. Going back another generation, I believe Samuel's parents were Samuel James (born 25th Aug 1757 in Barrow on Soar) and Elizabeth Bradford (Born 1762 in Quorn). Samuel's parents might well have been Valentine James (1736 in Barrow on Soar -1822) and Ann Humber (1731-1813) Then back to John James (1701 in Barrow on Soar -1783) and Mary Goude (1706-1775) Hope that information is of interest.
