I can recall going to Charnwood Forest (which includes Bradgate) in the 1950s on the Allens Blue bus. I think we got on at St Margaret's bus station. (I remember the bus grinding up Mowacre Hill.) I don't think it ran to Newtown Lindford where the main entrance to Bradgate Park was. I think we had to get off at Cropston or at "The Triangle' and walk through Swithland Woods and then walk through the Park from its northern entrance. I think you also could go on a Midland Red to Anstey and walk from there. Cannot help with Bradgate Park cottages I'm afraid. Probably they were in Newtown Lindford. Don Hurd
