I am looking for help. I have a birth for RIMMINGTON, John b 1839 to RUDKIN, Anne and RIMMINGTON, John. John (1839) appears with the family in the 1841 & 51 census then disappears for the 1861 & 1871 census. I have a marriage for RIMMINGTON, Thomas and HENSON, Anne in 1861, they are also in the census together. Thomas also disappears in the 1871 census. On the 1871 census, Ann and family of 5 children show up, no Thomas or John. On the 1881 census, Ann and family of 7 children show up with father John. His son Caleb has father "Thomas" on his birth certificate but states father is "John" on his marriage. His son Edward repeats the same thing. I am 99% sure that Thomas and John are the same person, but I have nothing to indicate where the name "Thomas" came from and where John or Thomas may have been in 1871. Iam open for any suggestions on how to prove this or how to find where he was in '71. Would I "assume" that I am correct and enter his name as "John Thomas" on my records or do I assume that "Thomas" was an alias name?
