Good evening list I wonder if anyone with the Lutterworth Parish Records would be kind enough to look at a marriage for me please. The 1851 census for Dunton Bassett shows a William Smart (aged 50 years of Dunton Bassett) being married to a Charlotte (aged 36 years from Ullesthorpe). As a guide, the FreeBMD shows a marriage in the district of Lutterworth, in 1851, of a William Smart. It shows a possible match to a Charlotte Ellis. Could I ask that Charlotte's maiden name be verified please. Many thanks Jeff & Michele
A marriage is listed in the IGI as follows ;- William Smart, aged 50 and Charlotte Ellis, aged 34. 3rd Feb 1851 in Dunton Bassett, Leicestershire (Dunton Bassett is within Lutterworth District) Because of their ages it is quite possible (even probable) that Bride and/or Groom were married before, therefore Ellis may not be Charlotte's "maiden" name. Their marriage certificate will confirm this.
