Family says that he was adopted in Troy AL by a Dr. Miller. Sure wish I could find more on his family, I do thank the 3 or 4 of you who have responded this day and so quickly at that. Firstly the details you have are not proven so do keep an open mind Just a suggestion, then as now there were people who would make money any way they could, "arranging" adoptions was one of them, I do not know when legal adoption started in the USA but here it was not until 1927 , I take it you have checked for any documentation in the USA re adoption? (I am sure you have) You have to ask how does a child between 1 and 4 get to the USA without a great deal of help and money The story of a mother in the workhouse would cover the tracks quite well I don't think you answered my question, how do you know he was born in Leicestershire?
