I am researching the Perkins family who lived mainly in Fleckney and Kilby. I have a Samuel Perkins married to Elizabeth Emmerson in St Mary's Church Leicester 15-10-1799. I have a record to the fact that she was a widow and they were married by licence. due to back record keeping I cannot remember where I got this information from. Can anyone help me? Elizabeth says on various census that she was born in Fleckney but the Emmersons are not listed in the parish records that I have. Are there still members of the Perkins family living in Fleckney and Kilby? Thank you Joy -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. It has removed 66 spam emails to date. Joy If she were a widow her birth name would not have been Emerson. You need a Elizabeth ? marrying ? Emerson and then a death/burial of ? Emerson. Have you tried the NBI for possible burials and the IGI for possible marriages? Hi Joy My PERKINSes hailed from Kibworth Beauchamp and before that Gloostone, and one, a William PERKINS (1812-1878) married a Sally FOLWELL from Fleckney in 1835 in Kibworth. William's father and grandfather were both Josephs. Fleckney, Kilby, Kibworth are all very close, and Gloostone and Leicester not very far away. I haven't got far with my Perkinses yet, but I will bear yours in mind as I explore further . Do you know the names and dates of your Samuel's parents and any brothers and sisters? The Leicestershire Burials Index (volume 1) lists an Elizabeth PERKINS buried at Fleckney aged 68 on 25 March 1832, who could be yours. The index starts in 1813, so I have no hope of using it to trace EMMERSON burials before that date (i.e. of Elizabeth's first husband, as a possible route to their marriage and Elizabeth's maiden name). The only Samuel PERKINS listed was buried in 1862 aged 68, so cannot be the one who married Elizabeth Emmerson in 1799. It does list other PERKINSes buried at Fleckney, however. This probably doesn't help much, but I am happy to exchange details if you wish. Good hunting.
