    3. Tried various sources but Whitwick does not seem to be available either on L&RFHS P/R CD or on OPC page at http://www.leicestershirevillages.com/ Was interested in the name HALLAM as I am descended from a Francis HALLAM (1637- ?)who founded a family of that name who mostly lived in Stoney Middleton area of Derbyshire. The name originates from the old old name for a county west of Sheffield called "Hallamshire". Commemorated today in the Hospital - Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. It is still a catholic diocese in South Yorkshire today. If you are interested in history a brief account can be found at http://www.rotherhamweb.co.uk/h/hallamshire.htm Francis HALLAM was my 7 x gr grandfather if I have done the counting right! Don't have any details of a Thomas HALLAM unfortunately. 3. Hi A good source for Whitwick info might be the Whitwick Historical Society who I understand have a transcription project - you can find their details and more about Whitwick here: http://www.whitwick.org.uk/history/history.htm As I've mentioned before, although I have no particular historical links with Whitwick and I also don't have any access to archives etc, I do live in the village so can take photos of graves, old buildings etc once you get to that point. Good hunting Em On 26/04/2008, A P L <annepaling@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > Tried various sources but Whitwick does not seem to be available either on > L&RFHS P/R CD or on OPC page at > > http://www.leicestershirevillages.com/ > > Was interested in the name HALLAM as I am descended from a Francis HALLAM > (1637- ?)who founded a family of that name who mostly lived in Stoney > Middleton area of Derbyshire.
