Thanks for that, Janet. I wonder if the "Mrs G." referred to on the postcard was Mr Gunning's wife (perhaps they looked after the house while the Owstons owned it?). I see from searching on the internet that Hiram Owston died in 1905 aged 75; so I wonder who was actually living there in 1916? Looking further, I see there is a contact e-mail address for a descendant of the Owston family, which I will try!
