I joined the Nottinghamshire Library simply to get this service at home, though it is on-line at Notts Archives, where I had previously used it. I had to go in person to a library to join, I went to Nottingham Central Library which anyway houses their Local Studies section. Although a native of Nottingham , I now live in Leicestershire, but this wasn't an obstacle to joining. I have found it so useful in finding births, deaths, court cases, and many other interesting stories which has added flesh to the bones of my research. They have so many Newspapers digitized, including the Nottinghamshire Guardian, and Derby Mercury, as well as the Leicester Chronicle, all of which carried stories of events beyond what we would normally consider their geographical spheres. As Nivard has said, if you can join somewhere, it is very worthwhile.
