    3. I'm trying to find a marriage between John MAYES (sometimes spelt MAYSE) (b. 1832 Thurmaston) and Eliza.......(born 1832 Birstall). In 1871 they were living in Birstall, first child Thomas born 1852. I would love to be able to find Eliza's maiden name. any suggestions? thanks for any help Wendy

    3. Hi Wendy, I think the marriage was between John Mayes and Eliza Wales. FreeBMD (www.freebmd.org.uk) has it in the March qtr of 1852 (7a 297). The reason that I think it's correct is two-fold. Firstly, the 1871 census has their eldest child as being aged 19, so born around 1852. A marriage in that year is therefore quite plausible. Secondly, Family Search (www.familysearch.org) has a baptism of an Eliza Whales on 1st July 1832 in Birstall. Best wishes, Mike Gould -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Wendy Sent: 03 December 2011 14:23 To: [email protected] Subject: [LEI] MAYES I'm trying to find a marriage between John MAYES (sometimes spelt MAYSE) (b. 1832 Thurmaston) and Eliza.......(born 1832 Birstall). 3. thanks very much Mike - I had found the bmd reference but needed more proof it was the right one, so I'm delighted to find your second reference on family search---- great! I think that settles it! cheers Wendy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Gould" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, December 03, 2011 4:07 PM Subject: Re: [LEI] MAYES > Hi Wendy, > > I think the marriage was between John Mayes and Eliza Wales.
