Thanks for the spreadsheet Mike. I'll work my way through them over the next few days. I have just managed to eliminate one possibility, although he would have been an interesting ancestor to claim! William Henry Bilson (19) was in court in 1872 for having stolen a horse. He had appeared earlier at Nottingham Quarter Sessions on 26 June 1871 charged with cattle stealing and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. Birth probably registered Dec Q 1852 at Melton Mowbray. In 1861 census living with his uncle at Melton Mowbray born Sutton Bonnington. Sentenced to 3 months imprisonment on 1 July 1872. Parish records show a burial of William Bilson age 20 at Sutton Bonington 25 May 1873. Since my husband's grandmother Alice was not conceived until about June 1875, this man can be ruled out! A few days ago I mentioned a Memoir of an ancestor from Long Clawson. The only location (other than the British Museum) where I have found a copy is at the Wigston Magna record library. If you are someone who uses this record library and has the energy to look at the book, please let me know. I would not expect any great research from it but just a quick look to see if it is likely to offer much from the Family History perspective. Thanks for considering :) Shannon *My Ancestors:* Miss Mary Adams (1802-1855) married James Doubleday of Long Clawson (1795-1880) becoming Mrs Mary Doubleday of Long Clawson. Hi Stan, a couple of years ago I helped a friend find some of his Billson ancestors. They were all from Loughborough and I have an Excel s/sheet of census and bmd's which you are welcome to if it would be of use to you. Hi Shannon, I checked the Leicestershire catalogue. Did not find what you are looking for but there is one book which looks to be by the same author. http://capitadiscovery.co.uk/leicestershire/items?query=John+Newton&facet%5B 0%5D=mainauthor%3A%22Newton%2C+John.%22&sort=relevance this is the link to that page. It is not in stock but it says that it is available at the records office. Hello all, John MOORE chr 22 July 1810 at Kilby is one of my connections. He was the son of Thomas MOORE and Ann TEBBS and married Sarah RIDDELL in 1838. About 9 years ago, Miriam Holland contacted me about him. I would be pleased to resume contact with her or anyone else researching this family. I am descended from Maria MOORE, his older sister, who married John SPRIGGS. Kind regards, Cathy Purcell in coastal Queensland Australia

Hooray!!! I checked your recommended coraweb site this evening and discovered the Ryerson Index of Deaths and Obituaries in Australian Newspapers. I found two recent deaths of distant relatives that I thought I had no chance of ever finding. Long story short: My cousin Clara May with whom I was corresponding about the Australian branch of my Haywood family got mad and stopped speaking to me over a silly argument about the birth date of Jane Haywood, her grandmother and my grand aunt. I had stacks of proof, she had the wrong date and wouldn't budge when confronted with facts. At the time of this dispute, Clara was over 90 years old. In 2013 she would have been over 100 if she was still alive. I thought I had no way of finding out if Clara was living or not with such a recent event in question. I was able to determine from the index that Clara had died in 2009 at the age of 98. (I'll bet she is livid that I was able to find her date of death so easily online once I knew where to look!) I also found the death date of Clara's sister in 2005, that out of spite Clara wouldn't share! This is a great recent source for Australian death records and as I understand, it is continuing to grow rapidly. It was just updated a couple of days ago! So, if any of you are looking for Australian records... Keep this source in mind! Hello Members, Last week while I was visiting the GSV "Genealogical Society of Victoria" in Melbourne, I came across a death register on microfilm of a: *Livens, Anne death 1836, age 79, buried at St Margaret's.* I cannot find any further information on ancestry, familysearch or findmypast to investigate if this could be a direct ancestor on my family tree or someone not connected to me at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? Appreciate your assistance very much, Venetia -- Venetia Livens Yarraville
