    3. Hi Mike Thanks for that I tried via my saved maps but could not find the Kirby map even though it was there last week and my own saved maps are there The one I viewed a week or so back was the old one with different pin shapes and colours This appears to be an updated version All I can tell you about Jones & Overton is that it became Craft Services, DIY and a small selection of toys, I used to buy Airfix kits and soldiers there, plus humbrol paints of course Before nipping round the corner to Jack Foremans for a sturmey archer gear cable :-) Alladins cave Jacks workshop was, more wheels and rims than you could shake a stick at Not sure if its due to the mucking around by google maps but for me Worths is in the wrong place, it was on the other side of the path to the recce' where it shows Kirby Muxloe Day Nursery And there are no mentions of shops half way up Castle street, can't remember the name but there was a shoe shop there I will have a further look and get back to you Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 05/11/2014 16:15, Mike Gould wrote: > Hi Nivard, > > I see what you mean ! 1. Re: [LEI] ADCOCK (was Kirby Muxloe businesses map Mike Gould)
    2. Karin via
    3. Thank you so much, Blanche. Abraham Adcock was a verger at the parish church, but one of his sons or grandsons converted to the Baptist religion and that branch of the family moved to Glenfield, where the sons seemed intent on buying all of the farmland for their own homes. One of the grandsons or great grandsons married Elizabeth Bennett from Kirby Muxloe, and she returned to live with her father after the death of her husband and a good portion of the family. She had a young daughter, Minnie and was pregnant with her son, Samuel Forman Adcock. We have never been able to learn the fate of Elizabeth Bennett Adcock; there are so many entries for the name in BDM indices I would never get through them. I believe Samuel Forman was raised in the high Anglican Church, or at least his children were raised in that church, possibly trying to hide his wife's Jewish heritage. It's an interesting family, and I will enjoy looking through your sources...you never know what might be ! gleaned. 3. We have managed to get back to Abraham Adcock born in the 1700s, but cannot seem to connect further back. Samuel Foreman was pretty interesting, and the Bennett family certainly married well...I guess farmers and landowners were relatively well off back in those days. Unfortunately, typhoid took its toll on my branch of the families, and my great-grandfather hied himself off as soon as he got his hands on the family lolly and blew it all on. A good time! 3. I think you are probably best off writing the the newspaper and asking them to either forward your letter (if they have contact details) or publishing you letter. The Electoral Registers on Find My Past have an address in 2005 for Glenis Blakesley-Jones and a different address in 2008 for Glenis B Jones (both with same husband). It also looks like there is more than one person named Glenis Jones living in Leicester. on 3 Oct 2014 10:21 +1000, Gillian Harrison <gilliantas@gmail.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 3 Oct 2014 10:21:20 +1000 > From: Gillian Harrison <gilliantas@gmail.com> > Subject: [LEI] BLAKESLEY > To: LEICESTERSHIRE-PLUS@rootsweb.com > > I am searching for a Glenis Blakesley Jones who I have tracked down to > living in Leicester City Centre in an article in Leicester Mercury November > 2011 mentioning her father serving with Seaforth Highlanders in WW1. Hi Gill As this is for a living person (hopefully) we should not be discussing them on the list I found one electoral roll entry from 2005 That could mean they have moved away or probably ticked the box not to be on the public electoral roll I will send that entry offlist and perhaps you could write to that address? Another avenue might be to try the central reference library in Leicester or the Records Office in Wigston, one should have the later electoral roll and might check it for you Or try a post/call to Radio Leicester or the Leicester Mercury Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 03/10/2014 01:21, Gillian Harrison via wrote: > I am searching for a Glenis Blakesley Jones who I have tracked down to > living in Leicester City Centre in an article in Leicester Mercury November > 2011 mentioning her father serving with Seaforth Highlanders in WW1.
