Hello Linda In response to your email, I am also researching my family tree in the Market Harborough/Great Bowden/Stonton Wyville area and my married surname is "Young". The only but is, the surname I am researching in this area is my maiden name, which is "Dunmore". When I start researching the "Young" side of my family, would you object to me keeping you in mind, just in case I come up with them around the Rutland area? In response to trying to contact Marina (from January 2001) she started her research before me, so I have no record of her. The only suggestion would be to try the Leicestershire Family History Society website which is www.lrfhs.org.uk who may have a record in their database. All the best in your research. Lynley, Thewre is a village website for Stanton under Bardon it's address is www.leicestershirevillages.com/stantonunderbardon it's still under construction so doesn't hold much information but you might be able to contact some local people who could help you. Good luck with the search, Mike Barker. -----Original Message----- From: leicestershire-plus-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:leicestershire-plus-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Lynley Stone Sent: 05 August 2008 21:47 To: leicestershire-plus@rootsweb.com Subject: [LEI] Stanton Under Bardon information Does anyone on the list know about the Cemetery in Stanton Under Bardon? My assumption is that my 19th century ancestors may have been too poor to have headstones, but possibly those that died in the early 20th century may have some memorial? I am wondering if anybody can help me find information about some 20th Century families. I'm simply wondering if anybody is researching these families (or happens to know of any of these people or their families!) - I'm NOT asking for assistance with looking up sources, although suggestions about where I might look would be welcome. I haven't spent much time on this quest yet, and don't want to waste anybody's time doing things for me that I can do myself. For example, I haven't verified all the dates by getting certificates yet, the list of children is almost certainly incomplete (I've been through the birth directories up to 1913), etc ... I am looking for the families of the descendants of John Gibson and Ann Corah, who married 8 November 1853 and lived in and around Stanton Under Bardon. Their son, Charles (b. 1873) was my great grandfather. These families are: * Thomas GIBSON (b. 11 Jan 1856) m. Mary GEARY. Daughter/Stepdaughter? Emma Geary Gibson (b. abt 1872 Stanton Under Bardon). * Joseph James GIBSON (b. 1860) m. Sarah FREEMAN (June qr 1898) Leicester. No known children * Sarah GIBSON (b. March qr 1863) m. Thomas MASSEY (June qr 1882) Lived Stanton Under Bardon and Mounsorrel. Children in 1901 census: Elizabeth, Nelly, Ethel, Beatrice, Mabel, Fred MASSEY. * Arthur GIBSON (b. 2 April 1867) m. Harriet HOLMES (Dec qr 1895) Market Bosworth. No known children * Mary Ann GIBSON (b. March qr 1869) m. Arthur HEMSLEY (Sept qr 1894) Market Bosworth. Child in 1901 Census Gladys Louisa Hemsley (b. 2 Feb 1896 Hugglescote) * Louisa GIBSON (b. 2 Oct 1870) m. Breedon HOPKINSON (Dec qr. 1897). Children John Breedon and Joseph Breedon Hopkinson (twins?) b. 1903. * Alice GIBSON (b. March qr 1876) m. Arthur Charles FAIREY (Sept. qr 1900) Bedford. Son Reginald J. Fairy b. 1913 Bedford (I have made enquiries on the Bedfordshire list about this family) * Frederick GIBSON (b. 16 April 1877). Was living in Stanton Under Bardon in 1901 Census, no later details found. Thank you, Lynley Auckland, New Zealand
