Hallo I trim the article using Irfanview (free program) leaving a large enough space at the top to insert the name and date of the publication and the name of the person. I add it to the family's file. I can always find an article when I need it. I could add it to the relevant person in my genealogy program (Legacy). I chose not to. -- Connie http://oursalmons.wordpress.com/
Thanks Connie I have been using the windows "snippet" feature to trim articles out of a page. I then save the snip with a name which includes the name of the newspaper and date. For trimming photos I use photoscape which is also a free programme. As part of my family research I have been searching the British Newspaper Archives and collecting articles about various ancestors and members of their families. I have now collected quite a number of snippets and thought I might organize them based on dates and topics, in some sort of scrapbook. I have no interest in printing out each item and pasting them into a scrapbook, but rather want to create an "electronic scrapbook". My initial thoughts were to import all of the items (which are jpegs) into a word processor. I would then be able to move them about into the desired order and could include some comments with each "photo" as a caption. Once organized I plan to convert the document to a pdf file for sharing with others. As I continue my research and find more articles, I would like to insert them into the original file at appropriate locations. From time to time I would be able to publish revised pdf files. I was wondering if anyone on the list might have taken on a project such as this and might have some advice for me. Rather than using a word processor, I wonder if there is other software (like scrapbook software) that could accomplish what I want in an easier fashion. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who uses scrapbooking software. My key requirements for the project are: 1. ability to update as new info is found, inserting items into the appropriate spot 2. produce pdf's so the project can be shared without fear of the "book" being corrupted. I look forward to any advice, comments, ideas that you have. Vern in Ontario.

Hi list I am interested in Henry ISON and Elizabeth CHATYN who married in Swepstone on the 13 October 1773. I have found the following baptisms, all in Swepstone, who I think are their children. John baptised 25 Sep 1774 Sarah baptised 27 Oct 1776 Joseph baptised 04 Jul 1779 Mary baptised 11 Mar 1787 Now, there appears to be a big gap between Joseph and Mary. Can anyone on the list help me? I am still looking for my George ISON who became a Farmer at Newton Nethercote. Kind regards Malcolm

What I have amounts to a Marriage between Ann JOWETT born abt.1799 at Sawley, Derbyshire, England (no death date)(no parents names) Robert BLOOD born abt. 1801 at Shepshed, Leicestershire, England (no death date). (One of the 7 sons of John BLOOD and Catherine BENNETT.) Ann JOWETT and Robert BLOOD were married on February 5, 1822 at Shepshed, Leicestershire, England. There were at least 8 known children of this Marriage and they were named BLOOD (of course). The information that I show above was kindly provided to me a long time ago by Ritch BLOOD via e-mail dated November 25, 2003. If you think this might be of help, please let me know. The Leicester Chronicle of 10 March 1855 carries an item about the above three men, COLLINGRIDGE, ILLSTON and ANGRAVE, all apparently bakers since the item is about rent arrears on a house and bakehouse in South Kilworth, but it doesn't give the Christian names of any of them. Mr COLLINGRIDGE was the mortgagee. Mr ILLSTON was the wayward occupier and Mr ANGRAVE was the would be occupier. Hi list My wife is a descendant of Mary ISON who was born on the 26 Sep 1855 in Newton Nethercote, in the parish of Swepstone and died in 1932 in Castle Gresley aged 77. She was the youngest daughter of Henry ISON (Cordwainer) and Mary HENSON. They were married on the 10 Feb 1840 in Swepstone. Henry was the son of George ISON and I believe was baptised on the 20 Sep 1816 at Swepstone. George was a Farmer and is recorded as such on Henry's marriage certificate and on the 1841 and 1851 censuses. Can anyone help me with the following? 1) The marriage of George, the Farmer and his wife Frances. Their first child Thomas appears to have been born about 1808. 2) The baptism of George. According to census and his age at his burial in 1851, he was born about 1783 in Newton Nethercote. 3) The parents of George. I have the christenings, marriages and burials for Swepstone and what I have noticed, probably more than anywhere else I have researched, is how few male ISON marriages took place in the village. It seems they had to look elsewhere for their wives. Kind regards Malcolm Hitchens
