Hello Again Is anyone able to help with the above? Please. The only things I have are that she married Elijah CLIFFin the Dec Q 1861 in the Leicester Reg Dist (after the 1861 census). He died in the Mar Q 1870, also in the Leicester Reg Dist (before the 1871 census). I cannot find her as Elizabeth CLIFF in the 1871 though and there is no marriage between his death and the census. The only other information is that they had a son Spencer CLIFF who was born in the Sep Q 1862 and who lived with his uncle Bartin CLIFF in Thrussington, Leics in 1871. He may have been born in Thrussington. Thanks Mike in a coolish Whakatane NZ
Hi Christine, My apologies to all for asking this on List but I would be interested to know whether you received a reply. :-) Since February 2008 I have sent 3 emails with an offer of photos but have had no response. I just wondered whether the site is still operating. I too tried sue.hargrave1@btopenworld.com but it bounced. My previous choice; sue.hargrave@btinternet.com did not bounce but seems not to get through. Hi Lennie Here is all that the Hinckley parish register gives: John son of John & Eliz WITTON, born 20 January 1800. Christened 12 Feb 1800. Registered the same day by me J C Galloway, vicar. Catherine daughter of John & Elizabeth WITTAN, born 6 of June 1797. Christened 8th June. Registered the same day by me J C Galloway, vicar. Note: Different spellings of the surname in the registers. Note to Others: I have microfiche of Hinkley St Mary's parish registers from about 1520 to 1835 and will do lookups if needed. Cheers..............Robert Marttila in Hamilton, Ontario

Hi Everyone Is there someone on the list that could possibly look up the birth of John WITTEN bapt. 12 Feb 1800 and his sister bapt. 08 June 1797 at St. Mary's, Hinckley to see if there are any other details. I'm trying to make a connection between my WITTEN family in Bristol, one of whom on the 1851 census states his place of birth as Hinckley c. 1797, and the WITTEN family of Old Swinford. I'm not sure, however, how the Leicestershire connection comes in and as I found the entry on the IGI index I was hoping there might be some additional info. Thanks for any help anyone can give it is really appreciated and if anyone needs help from the Dorset Record Office I'm five minutes away on foot. Hello Yet Again As I said in my last post the NAYLORs are a small twig (locale not family size!!) on my wife's family tree. I wonder if anyone can help with a Susan Annie NAYLOR who was born in the Mar Q 1878 (Uppingham 7a 343) and who, in 1881 and 1891, was living with her grandparents Philip & Mary NAYLOR in Preston as Annie. In 1901 she was to be found as Susan A MAYLOR in Paddington. If anyone more closely allied to the NAYLOR name can assist with her parents I would be grateful. I am an NZ superannuitant and am unwilling to lay out for the certificate for someone so far from the trunk of my wife's tree!! Here's hoping Mike in a cold wintery Whakatane NZ
Hello Again The NAYLORs are a small twig (locale not family size!!) on my wife's family tree. I wonder if anyone can help with a Matilda NAYLOR who was born in the Mar Q 1863 (Uppingham 7a 271) and who, in 1871, was living with her grandparents Philip & Mary NAYLOR in Preston. In the Sep Q 1880 she married a John BUXTON (Uppingham 7a 451). If anyone more closely allied to the NAYLOR or BUXTON names can assist with her parents I would be grateful. I am an NZ superannuitant and am unwilling to lay out for the certificate for someone so far from the trunk of my wife's tree!! Her first child was called Martha Harriett BUXTON and so I wonder if her mother was Philip & Mary's daughter Martha who never married!! Unfortunately Philip & Mary had 13 children many of whom could have been her parent. Here's hoping Mike in a cold wintery Whakatane NZ
