What is the Leicester Project CD? What is contained in it? Any idea if the Ravenstone, Leicestershire Parish or Whitwick would be included in this CD? If so, how can I obtain a copy? Iva Beckstead hollandtulips@earthlink.net
Cheryl, I access it through my subscription to Ancestry UK. Not sure if it's available anywhere else. Hi Vern I raised this point some time ago and was informed that the producers deliberately prevented copying or printing, in order to protect their copyright. As a result of many complaints, I understand that the next CD in the series (if we ever see it!) will allow either one or the other of these operations. However, there is a way to bypass this (not ideal, but it will save a lot of ink, paper and wristwork!). In this, I assume that, like me, you have saved the contents of the CD to hard drive, though it may work directly from the CD. I also assume that you have the key "Print Screen" on your keyboard with another operation (in my case "Sys/Rq") below it: With the relevant list on-screen, hit CTRL+Shift and "Print Screen" (this will copy the screen but not print it). Then open a blank page in MS Word and hit "Paste" under "Edit" in the top toolbar. This will import the screen that you have copied and you can print it from MS Word. Good luck! No it's not free. On Ancestry I think Also available from Ins of Heraldic & Gen Studies This index is not comprehensive but v good for London records. Hello Steph, I haven't come across a Harriett DEWICK, yet. Do you know her father's name? Although it is not a common name, there seemed to be quite a few in the area. Would Lymswold be a corruption of Wymeswold? Our DEWICKs stemmed from the George below who was born c 1806. It is possible that Harriet might have been his sister. I'll keep your e-mail and if I find out anything I will let you know. Hi Roger, This is the address that she sent to me, also adding that she was going to check the address on the Leicester OPC , not sure if that happened. sue.hargrave1@btopenworld.com Still the one on Leicester OPC. Sue was asking for photographs etc for the site - I sent her a couple, in April 2008, from my trip home to Coalville, Leicestershire late last year, 2007. The address that she replied to me with is ; _ sue.hargrave1@btopenworld.com and she received my mail, Her words were "" Many thanks for the photographs. I will check the OPC files to make sure that the email address is correct, I thought I'd changed them but just to make sure.... "" though the prints have not yet appeared on the site and that email was dated 11 April 2008. Is Sue still the Leicester OPC or has she handed the position on to someone else? That is just a thought. Looking on the latest additions page, is says that the last update was 3 NOVEMBER 2007, over eight months ago. Hope this helps Roger, Regards, Christine
