I will try posting this information again. William Lemons birth date unknown. William died September 3, 1845 Jefferson Co, MO. He married Mary "Polly" Reynolds in Hardin Co., Kentucky, June 17, 1815. Mary was born in South Carolina about 1798. Mary was the daughter of Richard Reynolds. Mary died 1867/68 at 70 years of age. William is not listed in the 1814 Hardin Co., KY tax list. The only Lemons's listed are John and Abraham. In 1815, there is a John, William and Abraham listed. We assume this is our William since he married Polly in 1815. In 1816 there is a John, William and Abraham again listed. In 1817 none of them are listed. In 1818 the book is missing. In 1819 none of them are listed. They must have left Hardin Co. in 1816. Richard Reynolds, Polly's father is also listed in 1815 and 1816. He is also gone by 1817. We find both a William Lemons and Richard Reynolds listed in Lincoln Co., TN in 1820. This could very possibly be our William and Richard. The ages for the children of William are exact. He has 3 sons under 10 with a wife 16-26. On many of the censuses, the born state listed for the children of William and Polly is interchanged between Tennessee and Kentucky. By 1830 William and Richard are no longer listed in Lincoln Co. TN. We lose Richard forever and we don't find William again until 1837 when he is listed as living in Jefferson Co. IL in his son George Washington's marriage record in Hamilton Co., IL (adjoining county). In September 1840 William Lemons purchased eighty acres of land in Jefferson Co., MO from James C. Rogers for $200.00. This deed was filed and recorded March 24, 1841 Book F page 113. William's land was near Ware, MO. In December 1842, William purchased another eighty acres of land from $150.00 from Levi Brintley. This deed was recorded March 7, 1842. William didn't leave a will; however, there is a probate record for him in Jefferson County, MO. His death date is provided in this probate by the doctor who cared for him. Mary and all her adult children sold their land in Jefferson County, Missouri on September 28, 1852. Sometime between 1853 and 1854 Mary and all nine of her children and their families moved to Cooke County. Texas. Although there is no proof that the marriage record found in Hardin County KY is our William and Mary, in all probability it is. There are Meltons living in the same county. These people also moved to Jefferson Co, MO and Cooke Co, TX. William Lemons and Mary "Polly" Reynolds had the following children: 2 i. George Washington2 Lemons was born in Tennessee March 16, 1816. George died about Jan 1873 in Texas, at approximately 56 years of age. He married Tarsey Emily Summerlin in Hamilton Co., Illinois, May 10, 1837. 3 ii. Thomas Lemons was born in Tennessee 1818. Thomas died 1868 Cooke Co., TX, at 50 years of age. He married twice. He married Eloise Davis Jefferson Co, MO, June 27, 1842. Eloise died Bef 1850. He married Kesiah Pierce in Grayson Co., Texas, June 9, 1853. 4 iii. John Wesley Lemons was born in Kentucky March 13, 1820. John died August 27, 1886 Cooke Co., TX, at 66 years of age. His body was interred after August 1886 Cooke Co., TX, New Hope Cemetery. He married Jane Murrell Jefferson Co, MO, July 7, 1842. 5 iv. William Riley Lemons was born in Tennessee February 11, 1822. William died February 28, 1893 in Granby, Newton Co., Missouri, at 71 years of age. His body was interred in Granby, Newton Co., Missouri, IOOF Cemetery. He married Francis "Frankie" Murrell before 1844. 6 v. James Berry Lemons was born Jefferson Co, IL Aug 5, 1830. James died October 1, 1914 McCulloch Co, TX, at 84 years of age. His body was interred Voca, McCulloch Co, TX, Voca Cemetery. He married Serina A. Craig Jefferson Co, MO, December 29, 1850. Serina was born in Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., IL about 1834. Serina was the daughter of Thomas Craig and Sarah "Sally" Murrell. 7 vi. Frances Melvina Lemons was born in Kentucky Feb 11, 1833. Frances died Dec 28, 1893 at 60 years of age. Her body was interred Voca, McCulloch Co, TX, Voca Cemetery. She married Elbert Ogle Jefferson Co, MO, March 14, 1850. 8 vii. Rosannah Lemons was born in Missouri 1836. Rosannah died Oct 18, 1872 at 36 years of age. She married John McCaney Breazeale Cooke Co., TX, March 25, 1858. John was born Roane Co, TN Sept 7, 1834. 9 viii. Josiah Francis Lemons was born in Illinois December 24, 1838. Josiah died April 12, 1914 Voca, McCulloch Co, TX, at 75 years of age. His body was interred after April 1914 McCulloch Co, TX, Mount Tabor Cemetery. He married Mary Diane Melton Cooke Co., TX, June 21, 1865. 10 ix. Mary Emily "Polly" Lemons was born in Missouri 1842. Mary died before 1880. She married John Bradford Hays Cooke Co., TX, August 20, 1860. I believe that William is related to Abraham and Willis Lemons that were listed in the 1860 Pulaski Co MO census. Both Abraham and Willis filed for land in Cooke Co Texas in 1853 at the same time as Mary Lemons and her adult sons listed above. In 1855 both Abraham and Willis sold their land. There is also a George O. Summerlin that was married to a Martha Ann Lemons in Franklin Co MO in 1852. I don't know her relationship to my Lemons, but George also filed for land in Cooke Co Texas in 1853 and then moved to Pulaski County MO in 1859. Norma Karter
