    1. John LEMON of Westmoreland Co., PA
    2. Sometime ago a very nice lady on this list sent me some abstracted information on John LEMON of Westmoreland Co., PA and I subsequently got a copy of his widow's declaration and Bible entries. The message at that time indicated that some people thought this John Lemon had a first marriage to Elizabeth (?)... In the "DAR Patriot Index, Part II," there is an entry for John Lemon who maried Elizabeth Michy, and it says he died "8-15-1812" in PA. The John Lemon I am tracking died July 2 or 4, 1820 in Scott Co., KY. I believe there were at least 2 John Lemon/Lemmon men of approximately the same age in Westmoreland Co. The will of William Lamond (Old Book B, dated Oct 30, 1769) lists his wife as Frances and children as: Elizabeth; William, Jr.; Frances; John (who someone says is the one who married Elizabeth Mickey); Mary, James and Sarah. My John had a brother named Robert, b. 10-6-1752 Ireland, so this William cannot be his father. "John Lemmon and Wife Elizabeth Mickey" by Lawrence Clifton Lemmon says there were several branches of the Lemon/Lemmon family in the area with 2 of them using the spelling LEMON. As my John spelled his name with one "M" I would like to find out more about the "One M Lemmons" in Westmoreland Co. I also want to establish this John Lemon as a separate patriot in the DAR patriot files - not to be confused with John, husband of Elizabeth Michy/Mickey. I can do this on the basis of his widow's declaration, but would like other information from Westmoreland Co. to substantiate the Rev. War Unit's name and find out whether John and Robert imigrated with their father, alone, or with other family members. Any discussion, and/or help separating and documenting these Lemon/Lemmon men would be gratefully accepted. Jo Thiessen jogt@aol.com
