My mother and I are currently working on this family in all of Massachusetts. We are researching them in the Mass. State Archives Vital Records division at this time. Later we will be searching the State House records and the local histories at the NEHGS. My great-great grandparents, John and Martha B. (GROSS) LEMAN are buried in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA, and their son, Benjamin B. LEMAN was lost at sea. This family was one of shipbuilders. We are currently researching the LEMAN (LEMMON family in 1790 census) family in Boston, and its branches into Dorchester, Andover, Chelsea, and several other towns, and all these LEMANs and LEMONs and LEMMONS are using all the same given names over and over again -- John, Ebenezer (and variations), Mary, Catherine, Caroline, Charles, Henry, Francis, Joseph, variations of Elizabeth, to name the most common. If you think that you may belong to our family and we may find your forebear in our Archives search, please write to me. Janet Hall, kvjrhall@kvvi.net
