JOSEPH LEEMAN (UNKNOWN) was born October 14, 1813 in NC, and died December 27, 1902 in AL. He md ELENDER MATILDA Abt. 1841 in AL. b. 2-18-1819, d. 3-21-1881. Joseph is buried at Friendship Baptist Church Cem. in Morgan Co. AL. Eleanor Matilda is buried in Leeman Cem. in Morgan Co, AL Children of JOSEPH LEEMAN and ELENDER MATILDA are: i. MARY J. LEEMAN, b. SAMUEL LEEMON (UNKOWN LEEMAN) was born Abt. 1824 in NC, and died March 09, 1862 in St. Louis, MO. He md LAURA ANN RAY December 26, 1843 in Morgan Co, AL. Notes for SAMUEL LEEMON: Enlisted for service in the Civil War in Morgan Co, AL. He was a Private Company H 27th Alabama Infantry. On February 6, 1862, he fought at the Battle of Fort Henry in TN. USA 0 Killed 40 Wounded. CSA 5 Killed 11 Wounded. On February 12-16, 1862, he fought in the Battle of Fort Donelson in TN. Total lifes lost 446 Killed 1735 Wounded. During this battle Samuel was captured by the Union Army. During his transportation to a Prisioner of War Camp at Camp Douglas in IL, he became sick. On February 22, 1862, he was admitted to the Fourth Street Hospital in St. Louis, MO. On March 9, 1862, Samuel died of chronic diarrhea. Notes for LAURA ANN RAY: 1870 Laura Lemons lived with her children in Blount Co, AL. In 1900 Laura lived with her daughter Nancy Elizabeth Leemon and her husband William M. Shikle in Cullman Co, AL. July 12, 1887, through May 30, 1899, Applied Widows Pension (for relief by Widows of Confederate soldiers, under Act approved February 25, 1887. Laura's place of residence is always listed as Cullman Co, AL on these Applications. It also states that her personal property, which consisted of Household and Kitchen Furniture, was valued at $20.00. Marriage Notes for SAMUEL LEEMON and LAURA RAY: Laura Ann Ray is listed as Lounan Ray, Lunan Ray, Etc. per three different transcriptions. Copy of Marriage License looks like Lounan Ray. LEEMON: Virginia Clementine Patterson was the eleventh child of Jacob Biffle and Clementine H. Stuart Patterson. She was born November 21, 1855 at Lacon, AL.
