I have a Joseph Leemon in North Alabama by 1860 with wife Elender Matilda ?? and 8 children. Living next door to him is his brother (I think) Samuel with his family and their sister Elizabeth. All three were born in North Carolina. There is also William, James, and Henry Lemon and several others (Catherine, Green, Ransom, Merritt) also all born in North Carloina. I have been trying to connect this family with the correct family in N. C. for some time and have been unable to do so. I believe that the Leeman/Lehman/Lemon/Leemon family and the Merritt and Ransom families all moved from NC, probably through TN (since Henry married and died in TN before 1860) and into N. AL together. Can anyone help me with this problem? I welcome any suggestions, information and ideas!! I have searched for Wills, Land records etc. and have found very little that name any family.
