I have a Joseph Leemon in North Alabama by 1860 with wife Elender Matilda ?? and 8 children. Living next door to him is his brother (I think) Samuel with his family and their sister Elizabeth. All three were born in North Carolina. There is also William, James, and Henry Lemon and several others (Catherine, Green, Ransom, Merritt) also all born in North Carloina. I have been trying to connect this family with the correct family in N. C. for some time and have been unable to do so. I believe that the Leeman/Lehman/Lemon/Leemon family and the Merritt and Ransom families all moved from NC, probably through TN (since Henry married and died in TN before 1860) and into N. AL together. Can anyone help me with this problem? I welcome any suggestions, information and ideas!! I have searched for Wills, Land records etc. and have found very little that name any family. Thanks so very much. Telette troberts@net-master.net
Hello: I am descended from Christian Lehman (Leman) who came to America in 1730 on the ship Thistle of Glasgow. There are 20 of us Lehman cousins who communicate via e-mail. We believe that the above Christian is the person mentioned in the Lachen-Speyerdorf Reformed Church (Palatinate Germany) records and married to Anna Maria. His father is Jacob and mother is Barbara. The records identify two of his brothers as Johannes and Ludwig who came to America in 1727 and 1732, respectively. I am interested in your Lehman e-mail list. Jim Lemon Lynchburg, VA

Just to let you all know, I've put up another update to my SURNAMES on the net. I'm over 10,800 people at this point. I don't know how many names I can get on Internet Alaska before I fill up my twenty megs space, but I'm giving it a good try. Lots of Tennessee names added. My English/Austrian-Hungarian areas need a little help though. Any inquiries send to me personally. Thanks. I am looking for any LEMON family of Essex, England. Specifically, I am trying to find Rebecca Lemon (b.c. 1760) who married (1) Robert Surry 26 Jul 1785 in Tollesbury; (2) James Shearcroft c. 1820 in Tollesbury. Children by her first marriage were Jane, Robert, Samuel, Susannah. There may be a connection to Grays Thurrock in Essex.
I am Cynthia Lemmon Foster. My ancestor was Robert Lemmon born in 1730 in Ireland. He came to the colonies in 1750's and his son James was a personal message boy for 'Uncle' George Washington. He had a son named Robert who had a son named Jackson Lemmon who had Hugh Arthur Lemmon who had Hugh Arthur Lemmon Jr, who had Jack Lemmon (my brother) It is one am and I am sure I left someone out, but that gives you a general idea of my line. If there is anyone on this list related to me, I would love to hear from you. I am from Texas, now living in West Virginia. My most pressing question is: Who came over from what parish in county Tyrone, Ireland with Robert. Then I would like to know: Are we scottish and only passed briefly through Ireland, or are we Irish with Scottish in our way distant background. If anyone knows any of these answers, Please email me. I am also on a business list and it is just easier for my web customers and associates if I leave it on automatically) Cynthia Foster Independent Herbalife Distributor LoseWeight@TheOffice.net http://www.FreeYellow.com/members/SafeDiet/index.html For distributor information: http://www.suresite.com/wv/s/safediet My Motto: Those who follow a crowd will never be followed by a crowd!
Anyone know for sure if Thomas Lemmons who moved from VA to Rhea Co. Tn, was the father of the other Lemmons boys who lived there, namely Allen married to Polly in VA, John married to Sarah, and William married to Amy Reece in Tennessee? I have my wife's Aunt Rose in the Lemmons family who comes down from William, two directions, but even though it looks like they might be related, I don't know for sure. I'm working out of the 1850 to 1900 Rhea County Marriage, Census, Tax list book by Bettye Broyles. It's got a lot of info in it about the Lemmons families. Anyone working this line, could you please drop me a note? If anyone would like the chart down further give me a shout. Maybe we could help each other out. Thanks. Do you know Leman, the Vampire?
Seeking information on the following families who were said to have lived in Coffee Co., TN: LEMMONS, William and wife Sarah. William died in 1814 while serving during the War of 1812. He was said to have married Sarah circa 1808 (or 1802) per Sarah's pension application. Sarah's application gave her maiden name as COX and she was still living by 1860 in Polk Co., AR. One or two later sources listed her maiden name as HOPPER. I believe COX would be correct since Sarah herself provided the information. I have not been able to find any dates (birth or death) for either person. LEMMONS, James B. - born circa 1809 TN - son of William and Sarah Am looking for his marriage record, circa 1837-38, to Mary E. CABLER. Mary was said to be a full blood Cherokee adopted by the CABLERs. LEMMONS, Alvis (William A.) - born circa 1814 TN - son of William and Sarah He was said to be born in Coffee Co., TN. He married Marine (or Morine) GREEN probably around 1835. She was born circa 1814 in TN, probably Coffee Co., TN. One source gave her maiden name as COBLER (CABLER?) which is probably incorrect. These families migrated to AR around 1847-48. Would greatly appreciate any assistance. Nova A. Lemons lemstar@juno.com

Does anyone descend from the LEMMONS / LEMONS family who lived in either Fannin Co. or San Saba Co., both in TX? I believe that Sash is located in Fannin Co. I would like to hear from descendants of James B. LEMMONS, born circa 1847-48 AR, who was living in Sash, TX in 1906-07. I have nothing further on him, his wife or children, if any. Also, I would like to hear from James' brother, Thomas G. LEMMONS, born circa 1850 AR, who was living in San Saba Co., TX where he died. He was deceased by 1906-07. Have nothing futher on him. Their brother, John B. LEMMONS (born c1840 TN), had a daughter, Mamie LEMONS, who was born 1873 in Tyler, Smith Co., TX. In 1906-07, she was living in Coffeville, TX. John and his wife, Eliza GARUM, had these other children: Rosie WELLS, Willie JONES and John LEMONS. Nothing further known about this family. The three men were sons of Alvis (William Alvis) and Morine (Marine) (GREEN) LEMMONS and came from Polk Co., AR. The parents were from TN. The other siblings were Mary T., Margaret C. and William J. Is anyone working on the surname LEMMONS (and also COX) of Williamson Co., TN and / or Coffee Co., TN during the 1800s to 1850s? I am looking for the marriage record of William LEMMONS to Sarah COX, whom he married circa 1808 (or 1802). William LEMMONS served during the War of 1812 and died in a battle in 1814. Some of his family members apparently lived in Coffee Co., TN. Widow Sarah and her two sons, Jim (James) and Alvis (William A.), moved to AR around 1847-48. James married Mary E. CABLER and Alvis married Morine (or Marine) GREEN -- both in 1830s. Nova A. Lemons lemstar@juno.com
Seeking information on William LEMMONS (LEMONS) who fought in the War of 1812 in Capt. Ephraim D. Dickson's Co. of TN Militia and was killed in a battle in 1814. His widow Sarah applied for pension and land in 1859 while living in Polk Co., AR. Her pension application stated that her maiden name was COX and that she married William LEMMONS about 1808 (or 1802?) in Williamson Co., TN. Their two known children were: 1) Jim LEMMONS [I believe him to be my James B. who was born c1809 in TN and married Mary E. CABLER. He went to Polk Co., AR.] 2) Alvis / William Alvis LEMMONS [born c1814 - per 1850 census] died 1856 (Polk Co.) AR married Morine (Marine) GREEN Both sons went to Montgomery Co., AR around 1847-48 then to Polk Co., AR in 1850s where their mother Sarah applied for pension. Sarah received 160 acres in 1860. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Can anyone locate the marriage record for William LEMMONS to Sarah COX? (One record listed her maiden name as HOPPER which is likely incorrect.) Nova A.
