I am trying to locate information on my great grandfather. His name was Peter R. Lehman and he was born in Ohio in 1861. Glenda J. I subscribed to this list because my mother's name was Nella Templeton Leyman Law. I have been unable to trace her ancestry and I am hoping to find some Leyman's (or perhaps spelled differently) who are her ancestors. She was born in Indiana (probably Fort Wayne) in 1878 and married Robert Vernum Law in Toledo, Ohio on 26 October 1904. She had a brother in Cincinnati, Ohio, named Harry Stoll Leyman who married Belle Peck. I sure hope this mailing list will cause some new information to surface! JLJ
Would like to find the parents of Sarah COX who was born circa 1781 and married William LEMMONS around 1802 in TN (Williamson Co. per pension record). William died in the Battle of New Orleans in 1814. Sarah drew half-pay as his widow in 1815 or 1816. I have not had any luck finding Sarah LEMMONS on 1820 to 1860 censuses in either TN or AR. There were a few Sarahs, but none of them appear to match closely. The known sons were James B. (born c1809) and Alvin / Alvis William (born c1814). Who were Sarah's parents? She was living in Bedford Co., TN during 1810s and probably lived there until 1830s or 1840s. Any assistance appreciated. Nova Lemons lemstar@juno.com
In 1835 Jesse BURR and his wife Mary sold their land in Bedford Co., TN to W. A. SIMMONS, all of Bedford Co., TN. The land formerly belonged to William SIMMONS, dec'd. I suspect the surname SIMMONS should be LEMMONS. I have sent off for a copy of this deed record to see the actual handwriting. I would like to know if Mary BURR was formerly a LEMMONS (or SIMMONS) and a daughter of William SIMMONS / LEMMONS. Is anyone descended from this family? Nova Lemons lemstar@juno.com
Seeking information on William L. McKINLEY and his wife Nancy, both of Gibson Co., TN, who sold all interest in the estate of William SIMMONS, Sr., deceased, in Bedford Co., TN to James B. SIMMONS (also of Gibson Co.) in 1835. The above information was from the published book on Bedford Co., TN deeds by Tim and Helen Marsh. I believe that the surname SIMMONS was mistaken for LEMMONS, depending on the writing. Sometimes the "S" and "L" look alike. I have sent off a request for a copy of this deed. The WPA index source listed the surname as LEMMONS. The deed stated that Nancy was a daughter of William SIMMONS, Sr. I would like to find more information on the McKINLEY family and if the surname SIMMONS should be LEMMONS. Unable to find a marriage listing for Nancy SIMMONS or LEMMONS to William L. McKINLEY. Nova Lemons lemstar@juno.com
Anyone researching the LEMMONS in Bedford Co. and/or Marshall Co., TN during 1810s to 1850s? I am seeking information on the family of William LEMMONS who died in the Battle of New Orleans in 1814, leaving widow Sarah and at least two sons, James and Alvin (or Alvis). He probably has an older son, William Jr., from a previous marriage. I believe this family to be residing in Bedford Co. when William (Sr.) died and that the widow and heirs continued to live in this county. The area where they lived is probably now Marshall Co. Deed index and records show several LEMMONS during that time period and I would like to identify them: Jesse, John, Jacob, W. A. (William A. -- likely William Jr.), Arthur L., James B. (son of William Sr.), Asa, Isaiah and Benjamin. John Lemmons' wife was identified as Anna Shinault through the deeds. Any assistance appreciated. Nova Lemons lemstar@juno.com

Hi Lemmon Searchers I'm looking for ancestors and descendants of Phillip LEMMON believed born in KY. Known to be in Maywood, Wyandotte, KS on 5 Aug. 1886 when my grandfather Charles Elmer, was born. Phillip was married to Julia Belle REAMS also believed to be from KS. I now believe that Julia had been married to Wm. Grimes before Phillip and they had a daughter, Dove or Dovie. Phillip and Julia separated when Charles was "5 or 6". Julia took the children and went to Billings, MT where she married a Mr. Chilcott who raised the children. Charles md. Mary Elizabeth HOPKINS in 1910 in Rockvale, MT.

Would like to hear from anyone working on the LEMMONS / LEMONS / LEMING folks of Polk Co., AR. I descend from James B. LEMMONS, born c1809 in TN, who came to Montgomery Co. c1847-48 with his wife and their children. I believe him to be brother of Alvin / Alvis William LEMMONS who came at the same time from TN. Both are believed to be sons of William LEMMONS and Sarah COX. William died in the Battle of New Orleans in 1814 and Sarah applied for pension while living in Polk Co. Would like more information on these persons. One source shows that the LEMINGS are also related to this family and that LEMING was an original spelling. There were LEMINGS in Polk Co., AR. Looking for information on the family of William LEMING / LEMMONS who enlisted during the War of 1812 as William LEMMONS. He was killed in the Battle of New Orleans on 23 Dec 1814. According to his widow's pension, he married Sarah COX around 1802 in Williamson Co., TN. A source stated that William LEMING was born about 1763 or earlier to Daniel LEMING. William LEMING / LEMMONS had two sons from his first wife, name unknown: - William LEMMONS, Jr. (said to have married Betty FINE) - John LIMING (born 1785 Cocke Co., TN and died 1842 St. Louis Co., MO, married Martha LOVE) Known sons of William and Sarah were: - James B. LEMMONS (married Mary E. CABLER and moved to Montgomery Co. / Polk Co., AR) - Isaac LEMMONS (moved to Polk Co., AR?) - George W. LEMONS The same source said that they lived in Polk Co., TN. Other locations were given as Cocke Co., Greene Co. and Washington Co., all in TN. I have no references or facts for these children except for the military and pension records (William and Sarah). I just recently found this connection and have nothing further on the above persons, except for my James B. LEMMONS. Would also like to know more about Daniel LEMING. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks... Nova A. Lemons lemstar@juno.com
