FYI I have a list of soldiers of the Company E, 1st. Regt. US Vol. Engineers which my grandfather, Samuel A. Lehman wrote as clerk. Undated but might help someone. He was in from June 1898 to Jan.1899, mustered out with milaria. Not many first initials but if this helps anyone I will look for names on it. JLDavidson
Can you post the names of Jacob's siblings? Do you know where he was from & any approximate years?
Still looking (and looking, and looking) for ANY information on ANDREAS LEHMANN and family, living in New York City by 1860. Andreas was married to Elizabeth (last name unknown, but I suspect she was wife #2) and had son Philipp, who was born around 1835 in "Grand Duchy of Hesse" according to his divorce papers from his wife, Sophia Hozl, in 1863. I believe that the family may have lived for a time in the Newark or Jersey City, New Jersey area. Lee Cognetta
In a message dated 98-09-04 12:32:22 EDT, you write: << Can you post the names of Jacob's siblings? Do you know where he was from & any approximate years? >> Sure...Jacob Layman was a descendent of John Layman who emigrated from Germany in 1616 and settled in what is now Lancaster Pa. Jacob served in the Revolutionary War (Philideplphia Co. Militia)...he then went to Seiver Co. Tn after the war. Married a french woman named Nancy. The siblings I have listed for him are George, Michael, Philip, and Nancy. Jacob and Nancy had 9 children. Michael (Iowa), John, Martha, George (b 1805), Nancy, Jacob (B 1810), Absolem (who spelled the last name Laymon), Ambrose (AK), and Preston. Jamie
I have quite a bit of information on my maternal grandmothers family... the Layman's from Missouri...I am looking to fill in some gaps and would be more than happy to share the information I do have if anyone is researching the same line... Edward Lewis Layman b Aug 1882 d 12 1946 married to Bertha Stewart and later Blanch Lue his parents were Columbus W. Layman b. Sept 1848 and Alta Zarah Bohannon Columbus' parents were George Layman b Nov. 1805 and Nancy Salvage George's parents were Jacob Layman and Nancy ? I do not have the parantage for Jacob but know the names of his four siblings..unfortunately I have a lot more information about other branches of the family than what I am currently researching...hopefully it can be of use to someone else, though. thanks. Jamie
I forget I even signed up on it. I was hoping it would have Lemonds on it.
I thought I would send my query again. I'm trying to locate any kind of information regarding my great grandfather. His name was Peter R. LEHMAN. He was born Sept. 9, 1861 somewhere in OHIO. Peter ran away from home when he was a teenager. It is said that he had 16 or 17 siblings. When he got older he worked for a railroad as a brakeman. He later moved to Missouri where he married Rosetta (Potts) Blake in 1900. This is all that is known of him. I have been searching for months and can't seem to find any information on him. His death certificate is unreadable so I can't even get the names of his parents. Thanks. Glenda J. Rose caesar70@ctnet.net
Here's my query: William LEMMONS (Sr.) was born c1781 or earlier and married Sarah "Sally" COX in 1802. Does anyone have the Family Tree Maker International Marriages CD? It has info on it regarding the marriage of Urs Victor Lehmann. I would be most appreciative if some kind soul would look up that info and send it on to me. Urs was a brick and stone mason who emigrated with his wife and children from the Bern area of Switzerland to Fulton, Missouri, in 1882. My wife is his great grandaughter. He evidently had a brother, Urs Joseph Lehmann, who settled in Wisconsin. Thank you. Kevin Thompson katatty@socket.net
Good question, Fred. I've been so busy with my other lists that I didn't notice this one was so inactive. My query follows. I haven't posted my info lately because I have been stuck at the same place for so long that I wanted something new to report and I don't have it yet. Why not post your line. Perhaps someone is out there who will connect. It's worth a try. Mailto:alemons@mindspring.com http://alemons.home.mindspring.com/family.html
Is this list dead? I have seen no traffic on it. J. Lehman Davidson
The list is still alive, though in need of CPR. I am still looking for information on the wife of Isaac Lehman, Eve Ann HAY. They were in Miami County, In. in the 1850 census. Mary
Hi, Don't know if there might be a connection; I have LEEMON/LEEMAN/LEAMAN/LAYMON and possibly LEMONDS from NC to TN to AL. They started out in Granville/Franklin/Nash Counties & began migrating. May or may not have been in Rockingham County. There were LOTS of them and they didn't pass down a wonderful family Bible explaining their relationships :) We have a JUDAH STONE that married JOSEPH LEEMAN--JUDAH was reportedly from Henry Co. TN--this is unusual for me in that we've found no other link to Henry County. We had a ROBERT LEEMON recently crop up from circa 1810-30 and we have an ELLENDER (female) in our line. I *think* there was a George Martin too--IF I'm not mistaken (sometimes I get genealogy overdose hunting these people). Do you have any: STONE, PATTERSON, MERRITT, RANSOM, OSBURN/OSBORN connections? My line intermarried with these families frequently. Let me know what you think. Author: <LEHMAN-L@rootsweb.com> at ##Internet Date: 08/26/1998 11:04 AM Just out of curiosity, has anyone researched Martin's and/or Lemonds' in Louisiana near the date of 1834? I have 2 sisters. Ellenor Martin and Rachel Martin that were both married to Lemonds (brothers or cousins), Robert and Thomas, respectively, and both families had a child born 1834/1835 in Lousiana, but in the 1830 Census and the 1840 census, Ellenor and her husband were in Henry County, Tn with no children born yet, but there was another adult man living with them which may have been Rachel's future husband, Thomas. However, I have never found their marriage records. I do know these families originate in ROCKINGHAM CO, NC

Marc, I don't have anything on a Jacob LEHMAN, but wondered if you had info on any other LEHMAN? My earliest descendant: William Lehman was born in Cumberland Co., Pa. Nov. 1, 1787. William died June 25, 1846 at 58 years of age. His body was interred in Frankford, Pa., Brick Church. He married Elizabeth ??. Elizabeth was born 1799. I am working on a grandparents book for my father for his 55th birhtday. It will have a simple tree and a biographical sketch of each grandparent. His birthday is August 20. I have a week of vacation before then, but I have 155 grandparents. I think I am going to need some help. All I need is a short paragraph on your favorite grandmother or father that we share. I have some photo's but would like more. Copies of photos would be great. I'll credit you for the information & put your address in the back if you wish. I'll also send a copy of the book to you. I'll be posting updates on my web page daily.
