Legacy suggests doing this to export a database from Family Tree Maker to Legacy. Importing files is just as easy. I've used a number of shareware versions of Genealogy software and I'm very happy with Legacy. It's not expensive and it seems to have most of the features I like. An "Undo" button would be nice however. Legacy does work well with very large files and you can add photos etc as well.. All in all I'm happy with it.
