David, I really can't find anything on the web or the Microsoft site that might refer to that error message. I would suggest that you go to our website at http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/help12Steps.asp and run through the steps there to see if those will help. Rather than just doing an update, I'd suggest doing a complete uninstall and reinstall. After running the uninstall, with Windows Explorer find and look in the C:\Legacy folder or what ever folder you had Legacy installed in. Within this folder you will find several files remaining that you will need to delete. Carefully delete all of the files in the Legacy folder but DO NOT delete any of the folders like the Data folder, Picture Folder or Video Folder as these folders hold your data and you don't want to accidentally delete your family file or pictures. All the other files should be deleted. Then download and install the latest build from our website. When you install it, make sure all programs are shut down and that your anti-virus program is disabled. Thanks for using Legacy. The error message didn't stay on the screen very long. > > I'm going to check with the webmaster on the linking for that error message. > > I would strongly suggest that a backup be done before ever importing > *anything* into an existing file! > I guess I learned that the hard way. Did you try a merge? The import terminated itself before it finished. I never got to the point where I could do a merge. Probably unrelated, but before this happened, I noticed another quirk. Sometimes when I clicked on the icons for a person's notes, sources, parents, etc., it would jump to the notes (or whatever) for record number 1 (me) if the person was a male or record number 2 (my wife) if the person were a female. If I weren't paying close attention, I would add information to the wrong person. This seemed to happen more often if I was using split view mode. > > Thanks for using Legacy. > > Sherry > Customer Support > Millennia Corporation > Support@MillenniaCorp.com > http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com > > We are changing the world of genealogy! > > When replying to this message, please include all previous correspondence. > Thanks. > > > -----Original Message----- > From: David Cornell [mailto:djcmgf@optonline.net] > Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2004 8:05 PM > To: LEGACY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [LEGACY] Error 3020 on Import > > When I imported new data into my main database, I got error message > 3020 and I had to quit the import. Sherry, This is all I could find on Error 3020. "Error 3020 (You tried to call Update or CancelUpdate or attempted to update a Field in a recordset without first calling AddNew or Edit". Sounds like something that happens in the database when an incorrect key sequence is used. Bet it never happens again. Jim
