Backing Up the file is a lot better way to protect your data than doing gedcoms, even if you send the backup to someone who doesn't use Legacy just to have it off-site for safe keeping. Go to http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Tips.asp, where you'll find an article under "Backing Up and Restoring Family Files" Thanks for using Legacy. I did use GEDCOMs as back-ups plus sent them to a number of people in an information swap. No one ever said anything about missing document text however I'm now finding alot of information lost that I originially thought was in my program. Blessedly most is in an old GEDCOM from another genealogy program so the information was saved. I was a total novice to the program & thought such things would be a default. I , however, will take full blame for not knowing about the "Override Source Options." I'm able to recreate some over time & have learned a lot in the process. Will take me awhile to get the files totally righted as its years of work lost that I didn't realize was gone. Things are what they are so its time to just deal with my files as they are. Hopefully everyone has learned something from this & our use of the program will be better. Many thanks to everyone! Sheila
