    3. Jim - Several months ago I had a similar question about a report that would show all people WITHOUT sources. Legacy does not have a report that does this. It only has the converse, a list of sources with all the individuals who use that source, a useless report to my way of thinking. It doesn't give any useful information to work with. However, a wonderful guy, Leon Chapman, sent a work-around for my problem. Maybe he can chime in with a solution to yours. As for global modifications in Legacy...BEWARE!! I have used the tagging method of global changing with some success but when you want to stop the changes, Legacy doesn't give you a foolproof method of removing tags. There's a menu item in the _Edit_ Menu called _Tag Records_. When you click on that you get an "_Advanced Tagging_" window. In that window there is a button "_Clear All Tag Numbers For Everyone_". This button *DOES NOT* work properly. You think you have your entire database untagged but there are still people or marriages with tags. So then, when you do a new global operation, you're getting people with sources you don't want them to have. -- Dan Cooley Dennis Kowallek wrote: > On Mon, 17 Jul 2006 15:20:35 -0400, "Jim Winfrey" <jim@lizwinfrey.com> > wrote: > > >> If I corrected any one of the individual citations, I didn't get an option, like we get when we edit a master source, of making the change globally. 3. Ah! But there *is* a foolproof way - do a backup before you do anything globally <rbg> Then you can *always* go back to the way it was things didn't go the way you planned. I'd name the backup something like "pre-delete" or "pre-tagging" or "pre-merge" so it'll help jog your memory why that particular backup was done. I've used "clear all tag numbers for everyone" before and all tags were cleared. That feature is just for individual's tags and doesn't apply to marriage tags. When clearing individual tags you can clear all tags for everyone but when clearing marriage tags, you need to clear each tag separately. Thanks for using Legacy. Maybe Sherry can chime in, but I don't think that button is supposed to clear marriage (or any other) tags. I've never experienced an untagging operation not work properly. The SQL to do this is very straightforward. I don't know how it could get screwed up. -- Dennis Kowallek kowallek@iglou.com ******************

Sure it does . . . it's called a *backup*! :-)) > There's a menu item in the _Edit_ Menu called _Tag Records_. When you > click on that you get an "_Advanced Tagging_" window. But do realize this is only clearing tags for *individuals* -- not marriages or anything else that may be tagged. Can you come up with a test case that displays this untagging problem? If it can be reproduced then it can be fixed. Cheers, -- Dave N. -- David Naylor, Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada. ---
