Then File, Export To:, and select to export to a Legacy file. When the export dialog box opens, choose to renumber RINs and MRINs from 1. This step will get rid of gaps and make it easier to find any data problems that might still be hiding in your database. Let me know if you still have problems after these steps. Jim: Did what you suggested yesterday, but my new family file with renumbered RINs and MRINs still has loops in it. I also did a Potential Problems Report and fixed everything mentioned on there. See if that one is OK. Dave: The old computer is gone. you need to break a few links in your tree (make notes where you do this) so you have multiple trees. Then check each of these trees to see which one has the problem. To view the different trees click on View > Tree Finder > Refresh. From this window you can tag all individuals in a tree to see just who's included in it. When you know which tree has the problem you can re-join the others and then split the problem one further until you narrow down to the link(s) causing the problem. When going through the individuals in the problem tree, watch the spouse and parent icons to see if any show a number greater than 1. If they do then verify that the extra spouse or parents are correct and should indeed be linked to this individual. Dave: I tried this, but cannot find any problem with the small trees which I had unlinked. A free upgrade is likely available to you. Sorry, I meant to say new 'version'. I have been getting my upgrades all along. As you can tell from the date that I bought Legacy, I am fairly new to this programme. Cheers, June
