Hello all, My name is Cristal and I am considering trying out Legacy. Before I purchase the deluxe version I downloaded the standard version to check out the gedcom conversion. My main data base is PAF. I also have FTM and TMG and have moved the data back and forth so I am familiar with Gedcom. Needless to say I continue to use PAF because of how I originally set up my data and I have several years of it. I would like to not have to do too much editing although I realize that I may have to if the benefits of the software out weight the time factor involved in conversion. With that said, I have what is probably one of several questions that will help me decide if investing in another software program is the thing I should do. My event data is in PAF as tagged notes. So for the 1870 census data it is in the note section as "1870_Census:" . Now, when I do the gedcom import, of course the notes go to the notes section of Legacy. Is there a way to either a) tell Legacy's gedcom import to put tagged events into a line in the Events/facts section or b) convert tagged notes to Legacy's events/facts section once imported into Legacy? Needless to say this is a lot of work. I obviously have several individuals with five census citations and documents listed in their notes. Converting this so it will show up in the timelines for example is a big deal. Thanks for your help. I am sure I will have more questions as I continue to evaluate the software. Cristal Simmons
Cristal: I think you should post this on the Legacy User Group site. Go the following URL: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp Then subscribe to the user group. Then send your question to that user group. The legacy developers & support folks monitor that user group and you will probably find other people that have had your same problem. Chap Leon D.
