Now you have got me annoyed. To me that is a really condescending answer. I have looked at the help files many times, but sometimes they are not too helpful. For example, in the export window Help has the following advice: "Override Source Detail options - include everything With this option selected, all the information from each source citation detail is exported to the GEDCOM file. If unselected, the information that is suppressed, according to the source detail options, is excluded from the GEDCOM export." My problem is the phrase "source detail options" - it is in Help files as well, but I have to go and chase for it. I admit I didn't, as I mistakenly believed this was something set by the program that I couldn't alter. In any case when I do look, there is NO mention there of export to GEDCOM - only reports. "Source Detail Defaults Sets the default settings concerning the inclusion of source citations; source details; and source detail text and comments on reports. You choose the default setting for: Including source citations on reports Including source details on reports Including source detail text on reports" Everything is easy when you know how. In many respects Legacy is intuitive and this is one of its strengths. In my opinion it fails miserably in the case of the Source Detail. Legacy's gedcom export will default to the options you have selected when you create your source. If you have not selected to include information on reports, it won't be included in exports either, whether you're exporting to a new Family File or to a gedcom. My main reason for switching from Family Origins/RootsMagic in the first place was the ease in duplicating sourcing -- NOW you say the export would drop that information...25 yrs. of research would be GONE?!?!
