    3. Elizabeth, If they are only in the database once, then they have been linked multiple times. As an example, Legacy should be showing multiple marriages for the folks all to the same person. 3. Eliz, I found that I got multiples when I would work on one line and then move to another line and there is a link, but I would forget that the person is already in my database!! This seems odd, but with some of my lines they intermarry through all the generations. These are mostly cousins and not direct line. You can do a duplicate record search by going into Tools, then Merge. Select Find Duplicates. Then it will take you to a screen to backup your database. You should do this cause you might make a big boo boo and want to start over. Then it gives you a menu to choose how you want Legacy to look for duplicates. Once you are through with that, then it will give you a list. Now, all your Unknown people will be considered duplicates!! So, be careful. It will "merge" the information so you don't lose the links, and it asks how you would like to merge. You can also skip over ones that you don't want to mess with. I spent several hours going through this. You can save the search and come back to it. Good Luck!! 3. Pauline and Diane, Go the the Tools icon at the top of the screen, click on "Set Direct Line as Preferred". When asked, select a person to be the focus from which the direct line is calculated. Go into Options to select a color for the direct line individuals. Another feature that goes along with the direct line - you can pick a focus person (doesn't have to be the same one) and click Tools, Set Relationships. That identifies the relationship of everybody in the database to the focus person if they are related. 3. Dan: Your best bet is to 1. View Sources, click on 1st source. Hold down the Shift Key & then move to last source & click. (This selects/highlights all sources). 2. Then hit the button "Show List" - which shows all people with a source 3. At bottom, hit "Untag everyone in file" & then hit "Tag everyone in the list" (use Tag 1) 4. Exit back to family page 5. Perform a search for "Individual", "Tag 1", "Untagged" This will find all the people with no sources This does not get to exactly what you wanted, but it does ID anyone without a source. Chap Leon D. Then restore from that on your laptop - File > Restore Family File. Note that if you have any multimedia files -- census graphics, photos, etc. -- that they will need to be copied to your laptop as well. You can do this within Legacy (File > Backup Multimedia Files) or just copy them over. The path for these may differ from your desktop but Legacy will find them all after you point it to one of the files on your laptop. Good luck.
