Last weekend I bought a sampler (in KY of all places), and it was made by Ann Lee in 1846, when she was 11 years old. At the bottom she has stitched White Roothing National School. A little computer research discovered that White Roothing is a town in Essex, England, and that there was a Lee family in the area, in the 1800s.....but, how Ann's sampler made it's way to Kentucky is something I'd sure like to know. So, if Ann sounds familiar to anyone, I'd love to hear from you...I curious about her and her life - and would be more than happy to send some digital photos of the sampler to any of her relatives.
