I would also be interested in any information on these Lee's as I'm looking for the parents of Burrell Lee, born late 1700's or early 1800's, in SC, moved to GA>AL. He married Mahala. After her death, he married Nancy Pate. Martha
Martha I have a book on Chester Co, SC. This is possibly the parents of your Burrell Lee. Besides his siblingd, two of his uncles are mentioned There is a page that gives a portion of the will of a John Lee, made March 1831 mentions a wife, Sooky, "my six children, Thomas, Burrell, Annie Matilda, Patsy, Sarah and Carolina, the last two having received a legacy from my brother Abner Lee; my friend Jos. Carter, my brother, Ferdinand Lee." This will also mentions "Poll Spring." Book U, Page 286, Dec 28, 1822 records that Ferdinand Lee of Antange Co, AL, sold his brother James Lee his right and title to a "Negro slave by legacy from my father." (father's name not given) These Lee's were of the Broad Creek, in the western part of Chester Co, SC, not of Rocky Creek Lee's. Good luck in your research. Estelle I found this book in two out of town libraries several years ago. I first copied only the pages with my family interest and the complete Index. I was on a very active SC List sites and offered to check the Index and get info whenever I went to one of the libraries again. I had such a collection on pages that I eventually copied the whole book. I don't know that it is available. The book is THE REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIERS OF CATHOLIC PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, CHESTER COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, By Mary Wiley Strange, 1946. Reprinted by York-Clover Printing Co, 1978 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Estelle Hucks" <[email protected]> > Where can I get the Book on Chester County. The will referenced here is contained in its entirety below and does show a Burrel as Peg showed in her book. I believe Sooky is a nickname for Susan or Susanah at the time this will was written. Just a reminder to all that I continue to seek the parents of one James B. / E. Lee b. ca 1804 and dd 1876 in Chester County where the line continues to this day. From census data, we know he lived in the Blackstock area of Chester County and family legend has him born in Edgefield county. I've not been able to tie him to this line or other early Lee lines in the area -- any and all leads appreciated. From Peg's post, and if this is the same line, we could have John, Abner, Ferdinand and James all as brothers? Wonder who this James is.....?
