    3. Kay, et. al.: I've seen the book in question, also, and I agree with you that it is for internal travel within the US only as settlers crossed the Creek Nation (and others) in the present-day central Southeast, from GA and NC and SC to the MS Territory. They are NOT for travel to England, France, etc. Dennis -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 8:11 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LEE] Re: LEE-passports In a message dated 3/8/2005 12:42:14 AM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: >From the book "Passports Issued By The Governors of Georgia "(Bryan) do you have this book just curious? I have been trying to find a site that show passports, anyone know of one from England to say Pennsylvania? thanks, MW Ever since this book was first mentioned here, I've been thinking that there was perhaps a mistake in the title or an overlap in content with another book. There are many passports by the governors of Georgia in the book Passports of Southeastern Pioneers 1770-1823 by Dorothy W. Potter. As far as I'm aware, passports issued by the governor of GA were issued to white people wanting to travel to or through Indian nations within the U.S.. I would not think they'd be identical with passports (which began in 1789) issued either to U.S. citizens traveling abroad or foreign persons entering the U.S. K.
