Hi all. MY father was Robert (Rex) Lay. He was born 2nd April 1908 in Erskineville Sydney. His father, Robert Thomas Lay born 9th Sept1884 in Singleton NSW married (16 Sept 1882) Alice Isabel Chew (born 17th Aril 1885) in Rochester Victoria Australia. Robert's father was Edmund John Lay (born 1858) He is reported to have come from Belleville Ontario. My Grandmother Alice, was of the opinion that– (i) Edmund was related to Robert E Lee and (ii) he changed his name from Lee to Lay. (??) Does anyone out there have a family tree with an Edmund John Lee branch, (1858), going nowhere because mine seems to come from nowhere? Graham
