Hi, I am new to your list and hope someone can help me solve my Lee family mystery. My gr, gr, gr grandmother was Dolly Lee born abt 1826 in Paulding Co., GA. As everyone else my family to has a story of us being related to Robert E. Lee but for the life of my I have not been able to find it. Here is the story. Dolly belonged to the Hartwell Lee family(I do not know if this is her father or what) when she was very young her parents died and she went to VA to live with her Uncle Henry Lee and was raised as a sister to Robert E. Lee who was her cousin. When she was old enough they sent her to school and she became a Dr (of what ?) She then returned to GA and met her husband Willie Thompson b. 16 feb. 1818 GA, they were married 15 feb 1843 in Clarke Co.,GA. For the longest time I thought she was a daughter of a Hartwell Lee. I found a Dolly Lee who was the daughter of a Hartwell but the dates do not add up. He died late enough that she would have been out on her own anyway. So.......here I am stuck!
