I am searching for any accounts of the 1856 Wagontrains from MO to CA. Some of my ancestors migrated at that time, probably from Springfield, Greene co, MO. Gilbert JACKS - 2 dtrs.). The Snows lived in Springfield, Greene co, MO for 20 years. In May 1856, two trains of 25 wagons with Horace SNOW captain of one train, and Stephen DILLARD captain of the other, crossed the plains to CA. Horace, Mary, & 8 children (6 sons & 2 daughters - I don't know which ones). Horace died at Napa CA just 2 months after they arrived. I have quite a lot of information on the descendants of VANN, SNOW, LEE, that has been passed down to me by family. I would enjoy exchanging with anyone who knows of these families.
