I am looking for the parents and ancestors of Jonathan C. Lee, my grandfather. From the information on my father's birth certificate, Jonathan would have been born about 1877. The U.S. Census information says that he was born in Pennsylvania of parents born in Virginia. About the turn of the century he left Pennsylvania and arrived in Spokane, Washington, where he worked as a newspaper reporter. It was after he had arrived in Spokane that he made a trip to Los Angeles, California, where he met and married E. Blanche McMurray, a prim and proper young lady, who by 1910 could no longer put up with the life style of a newspaper reporter. Everyone called him "Jack," so he might appear in your records as Jack Lee. Because he left home as a young man, he would appear in your records as having been born about 1877 and nothing more was known of him. He died near Spokane and I have no evidence that he ever communicated with his family in Pennsylvania. They may never have known what happened to him.
