Hi, John, I've found a good way to obtain documentation about one's Revolutionary War ancestor. Write the DAR. Your Hezekiah Lee is found in the DAR Patriot Index--Centennial Edition, Part 2, page 1771: "Lee, Hezekiah, b 1736 CT d 1-15-1777 CT m Lydia Thompson Pvt Ct." Use the following format to request the application from the DAR. By asking for the most recent application, you are bettering your chances of getting someone with a current address with whom you can correspond. Also, that application may contain references to other approved DAR applications on the same line. You may want to get all the applications claiming your ancestor. These applications will contain source documentation on War service, and decendancy to the applicant. Each application will be $5.00. Don't forget to send the check! Here's the letter to send: Your return address Date Treasurer General National Society DAR Admin Building, 1776 D. St., N. W. Washington D. C. 20006 Dear Mesdames: Would you please send me a copy of the most recent DAR application claiming (name of your patriot ancestor here) as her patriot ancestor? He is listed on page (insert page number here) of the DAR Patriot Index--Centennial Editon Part (1, 2, or 3), "(quote entry here). I am enclosing a check for $5.00 for a copy of the application.
