Hi! Don't know if this info will help, or not...but I have the following documentation: Data received from Sam Houston Memorial Museum, Huntsville, Tx. This data was compiled by Martha Lea and Dick Gardner, in 1979. Mrs. Martha Lea Gardner was accepted for membership in the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, as a descendant of Col. William Lea (b. 1654)...and further has determined that the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution accepts the service of Lt. Major Lea, Sr. (b. 1742) as sufficient proof of eligibility for membership in that organization. The data that Mrs. Gardner compiled was from several different sources, her own research, Dr. Casey's book "The History of Amite County", Mrs. Edythe Whitley's material "Whitley's Genealogical Collection on the Lea Family", as well as direct descendant research. The material from Mrs. Gardner is as follows ( I am summarizing, except where noted. Mrs. Gardner provides a very detailed account that I will be happy to provide if needed.)
